Ages 6 – 12 yr · The four competitive strokes

Stroke Development

Mastering freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly with proper breathing and technique - the foundation for a lifetime of confident swimming.

The Approach

What This Program Builds

Once a child can swim a width independently, technique becomes everything. Our Stroke Development track breaks each of the four competitive strokes into teachable pieces and builds the endurance to swim a full lap without stopping.

Format: 30-minute lessons, once or twice weekly, small skill-matched groups. Swimmers advance stroke by stroke on our transparent level chart, not by age.

Level band: Sea Turtles → Blue Whales → Orcas

By The End, Swimmers Can

  • Rhythmic side-breathing freestyle
  • Backstroke with a steady body line
  • Legal breaststroke kick and timing
  • Introductory butterfly and endurance sets
Core Skills

What We Coach

Freestyle & Backstroke

Bilateral breathing, a high elbow catch, and a straight body line on the back.

Breaststroke & Fly

The trickiest strokes - taught with drills that isolate the kick, pull, and timing.

Endurance

Building from one lap to a continuous swim with turns, so lessons carry into open swim.
