No mystery about where your swimmer stands. Each level has a specific set of skills coaches check off week by week - so you always know what's next.
Water comfort, assisted floats, and the roll-to-back with a grown-up in the water.
Graduates when: Enters and exits calmly, floats on their back with light support.
First independent floats, submerging for bubbles, and kicking with a board.
Graduates when: Floats front and back unassisted and kicks a full width with a board.
Combining kick and arm scoops, side-breathing, and gliding without a board.
Graduates when: Swims a width of front crawl and rolls to a back-float rest independently.
Rhythmic-breathing freestyle and backstroke over a full length of the pool.
Graduates when: Swims 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke with a steady breathing pattern.
Legal breaststroke and an introduction to butterfly, plus continuous swims.
Graduates when: Swims all four strokes over a short distance with correct timing.
Refining all four strokes, open turns, and building endurance sets.
Graduates when: Swims 50+ yards of each stroke and completes an endurance set.
Dive starts, flip turns, streamline, and pace-clock intervals for team readiness.
Graduates when: Ready to try out for a USA Swimming club or a school team.
